His Biography and Education


Imaginative art and design are Ashby North's specialty and he enjoys the challenge of appealing to a wide variety of audiences with fresh ideas.

Raised in West Africa and widely travelled throughout Europe and America, he has naturally developed a love for diverse peoples, cultures, and artistic expression. For most of his life, he has applied his adventurous imagination to children’s illustration and commercial art and design. Now Ashby strives to create design and stories that uplift people everywhere and leave the planet just a little bit better than he found it.

Work Experience

His recent work as a freelance illustrator has been commissioned by clients such as the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Arts Theater for Children and the Generation of Hope, a Buddhist project that teaches compassion to children. He is also author, illustrator and founder of Fiddlemoon Stories LLC, a site for children's video books.

He served on the Board of the Illustrators' Club of Washington, DC for three years and has shown his works in several Illustrator Club shows. Ashby North lives and works in Suburban Washington D.C.

Our video picture books encourage kindness, character building and consideration for others. We at Fiddlemoon Stories hope these original video picture books will be a lot of fun and will encourage kids creativity and imagination.


Ashby's Education and Awards

Ashby earned both a Bachelor of Arts and an Associate's Degree in Graphic Design from The Corcoran School of Art + Design in Washington, DC. He studied creative writing at the Writer’s Center in Bethesda, MD; and, in 2003, won the International Silver Inkwell Award for best illustration.
